Product Cycle Management

As we continued developing our market position and products, some of our products had served their purposes and no longer remained our focus. These include our Gen 2 LED dimmer modules and 2.1A Type A USB Power Adaptor.

Gen 2 LED Dimmer Modules

DZ2G450DIAL and DZ1G450CAPS are our 450W Gen 2 LED dimmers we first hit the lighting market in 2015. Unique to the DZ2G450DIAL module, this unit features an option for installers to select trailing-edge or leading-edge phase-dimming. However, as we continued to develop our trailing-edge phase dimming core, the rotary dimmer design was replaced by DZ3G450DIAL in 2017.

As for the rotary dimmer, we updated the firmware of the DZ3G450DIAL to our Gen 5 dimming core in early 2021. Simultaneously, the DZ1G450CAPS, single push-button LED dimming module, had been replaced by our DZ4G450MULT modules, which also offer multi-way connection.

We even have the DZ2G300TUNE controller that further enhances the single push-button dimmer switch design.

The DZ2G450DIAL and DZ1G450CAPS modules are no longer suitable for new designs, and please refer to the more recent counterparts.

USB Power Adaptor

Often overlooked in our portfolio is that we also provided non-lighting products to customers. Today, we still maintain the support to selected customers for our Type A 2.1A USB Modules for mobile devices chargers.

See DZ1G2.1USB product manual.

On-cord LED Dimmer

Previously, a customer shared his multiple accidents using market available on-cord dimmer (aka inline dimmer) with some high-end table lamps. Fortunately, the housemaids and office staff could promptly stop the fires, and no injuries happened. Of course, some luxury housewares and carpets were inevitably becoming a total loss. In this design, when the onboard sensor has exceeded the preset temperature threshold, the controller would shut off the dimming output. Users would not be able to switch on the light until the heat has been properly dissipated. The indicator would also change to indicate the situation to users.

After we understood the case, we realized the line (TRIAC) dimmer didn’t match the LED lights properly, which caused overheating. Therefore, we added an overheat protection feature in this design. Although this product was not mass-produced, it led us to other LED dimming applications.

Note that we didn't launch this on-cord LED dimmers into the market.
